Margaret3“Creating is not an option, for me it is a passion, it is my life.”

Margaret C. Wheeler has spent over 40 years working in fiber arts related fields. After she retired from 25 years of costume designing for theater it gave her more time to focus on a more personal expression of her artistry. She has taken countless workshops and classes on weaving, design and color over the years. This journey has led to her work in mixed media abstracts containing fragments of her weavings or collected fibers using embroidery, beading, knitting and or crochet to complete her vision. She has been a member of the Seattle Weaver's Guild since 1984 serving on many committees and board positions. She has been a member of Artist Guild of Leavenworth since it's beginning in the 1990's.  Margaret joined the Northwest Collage Society and the Contemporary QuiltArt Association in the year 2008.

Margaret has found working in silk fusion to be extremely satisfying. Silk Fusion is the process of layering delicate silk fibers, bonding them  into a sheet. Margaret then weaves and embellishes each piece by hand. It offers a great format for the embroidery and beadwork Margaret loves to do. She has also started doing paper collage. This satisfies a life long love of paper. After all these years of searching she has found her niche in the silk fusion and the paper collages. She still loves to take time from these endeavors to sit at her sewing machine and sew for friends and family.
